Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) National President Chirag Paswan has made a major announcement that has created a stir in Bihar’s political circles. In a clear signal of shifting focus, Chirag declared that he does not wish to remain in central politics for long and intends to play a more significant role in Bihar’s political landscape.

Speaking at a recent event, Chirag Paswan stated, "The foundation of my politics is 'Bihar First, Bihari First'. My state is calling me. While my father Ram Vilas Paswan was more involved in central politics, my first priority is Bihar. I cannot stay in the centre for long." His emotional words have sparked speculation about a new political roadmap ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

However, Chirag also clarified that he will not contest the upcoming 2025 assembly elections himself. Instead, he plans to become active in state politics before the 2030 assembly elections. He mentioned that constant encouragement from party workers and the youth has reinforced his decision, and the enthusiastic crowds at his meetings signal the people's trust and expectations from him.

Reacting to Chirag's statement, BJP spokesperson Prabhakar Mishra welcomed the move. Mishra said that Chirag, often referred to as the "Hanuman of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," is taking a step in the right direction. He recalled how Chirag’s father, Ram Vilas Paswan, had significantly contributed to Bihar’s development while serving as a minister in the central government, particularly through expansive railway projects.

The BJP leader further added that Chirag has faithfully continued his father's legacy, especially in advancing the welfare of Dalits under the NDA government's initiatives. With Chirag expressing readiness to engage deeply in Bihar’s politics, the NDA is optimistic about consolidating stronger Dalit support in the upcoming assembly elections.

Chirag’s statement comes at a time when Bihar’s political climate is heating up, with multiple alliances being reshaped ahead of the crucial elections. His possible active role in state politics could redefine equations, especially within the NDA fold, as Bihar gears up for an intense electoral battle.
